Alpha GPC

  • Supports brain function and learning
  • Protects neurons and improves signal transmission
  • Increases the speed and accuracy with which information is transmitted
  • Boosts mental performance in healthy young people
  • Revitalizes the aging brain
  • Significantly benefits in cognition, mental focus, and recall
  • Increases attention, mental focus, recall, and cognition
  • Measurable benefit against brain diseases like Dementia and Alzheimer’s
Alpha GPC (L-alphaglycerylphosphorylcholine, also known as choline alfoscerate) is a phospholipid metabolite found concentrated in neuronal membranes. In the brain, Alpha GPC supports brain function and learning processes by directly increasing the synthesis and secretion of acetylcholine. Alpha GPC protects neurons and improves signal transmission by serving as a precursor to membrane phospholipids. Strengthening the membranes encasing the neurons increases the speed and accuracy with which information is transmitted, reducing timing delays and reducing distortion of signals. Sensory distortion and timing delays are believed to be amongst the root causes of autism. The better neurologically connected, the fewer the symptoms.
Made from soy lecithin, Alpha GPC is extremely well absorbed and crosses the blood-brain barrier. As a dietary supplement Alpha GPC boosts mental performance in healthy young people. In trials on middle-aged subjects, GPC improved several physiologic measures of mental performance: reaction time, visual evoked potential, and EEG delta slow waves. GPC reaches extremely high concentrations within our cells and can revitalize the aging brain.
GPC (Glycerophosphocholine)is a small nutrient molecule with a large place in the scheme of life showing significant benefit in cognition, mental focus, and recall.
In more than 25 clinical trials, has shown clinically meaningful positive outcomes and significant benefits to Baby Boomers in increased attention, mental focus, recall, and other higher mental functions (cognition).
GPC’s have a proven track record against age-related mental decline displaying measurable benefit against brain diseases like dementia and Alzheimer’s as well as benefits for brain damage victims caused by brain oxygen deprivation from stroke or other circulatory damage.
GPC’s Orthomolecules are Safe with No Adverse Effects in its use with both prescription and non-prescription drugs as it is naturally present in all the body’s cells making it not only safer and more clinically versatile than other nutrients.

Schizandrol A

  • Enhances Mood
  • Enhances central nervous system stimulant effects
  • Increased concentration
  • Adaptogen which proposed to increase the body’s resistance to stress, trauma, anxiety, and fatigue
  • Great for focus
Schizandrol A, is an effective component of the dried fruit, schizandra chinesis bail. Studies have found that schizandrol A inhibits the central nervous system while elevating dopamine and dopac. This enhances mood, especially when paired with a CNS stimulant, such as caffeine.
The Schisandra Chinensis berry is used as a tonic and adaptogen, (adaptogen is a term used by herbalists to refer to a natural herb product that is proposed to increase the body’s resistance to stress, trauma, anxiety, and fatigue.)
One of the active compounds of the Schisandra Chinensis berry is Schizandrol A, which has been shown to be great for focus. A study confirmed it increased dopamine receptor response in the CNS. (http://www.ncbi.nlm…./pubmed/1678991). That study also concluded that there were no direct elevations of serotonin and norepinephrine as well as no direct agonistic activity at the D1, D2, Serotonin, Beta1 and Beta 2 receptors.
Brain function is an area in which adaptogens like the Schisandra Chinensis berry excel, for many biological chemical reasons. They also stop the body’s response to stress, which enables a person to think more clearly. The Soviet Union provided adaptogens to their cosmonauts, military Special Forces, and Kremlin leaders in large part because their scientific research documented a significant improvement in brain function and reasoning ability when under stress. The Soviet scientists conducted over 3,000 human clinical studies involving one-half million people and noted one consistent result — a sharpening of reasoning ability and increase in concentration, especially when they were low on sleep or under physical or emotional pressure. We have many people now reporting these same results, especially those with stressful careers such as doctors, lawyers and high-level business people. College students are also now finding that adaptogens can significantly improve their test performances even after all-night cramming.
Supplementing with UPGRADE and the combination of quality ingredients it contains can help take preparation, focus, training and game-day performance to the next level. Outperform your competition and UPGRADE your life. SMARTER, FASTER, FOCUSED.

  • Brain neuron function and neuronal signal transmission
  • Does not suppress the adrenal system like other functional tonics
AAKG is a protein Key to Brain Rewiring (Health Day News) — Scientists say they’re gaining insight into how the brain rewires itself as it learns new things, potentially helping them move toward better treatments for mental illness and brain injuries.
Arginine alpha ketoglutarate (AAKG) improves the endogenous production of glutamine and glutamic acid, both important for muscle growth, brain function, and for the immune system. AKG also binds to toxic ammonia in muscle cells, in the liver, and in the brain, thereby converting ammonia into glutamic acid, improving glutamine levels and assisting in the elimination of toxic ammonia from the body. AAKG is a Krebs Cycle intermediate, AAKG improves VO2 Max and energy metabolism in muscle cells, and brain cells (which utilizes twice the energy of other cells in the body) and is consequently a potent ergogenic that does not suppress the adrenal system
Arginine alpha-ketoglutarate helps to increases and maintains a high level of nitric oxide in muscles. The production of nitric oxide from the supplemental arginine promotes vasodilation (blood vessel expansion), which increases blood flow, oxygen transport, and delivery of nutrients to skeletal muscle and the brain. Vasodilation also helps with brain neuron function and neuronal signal transmission.

  • Prolongs Strength and Endurance
  • Fights Fatigue
  • Makes effects stronger and longer lasting
  • Creates “The Tingle”
  • Beta-Alanine is a non-essential amino acid that is used by muscle cells to synthesize Carnosine.
Carnosine is a dipeptide (Beta-Alanine plus Histidine) that functions as a buffer for the hydrogen ions (acid) produced during daily activity and strenuous exercise, thus helping to maintain optimum muscular pH. Scientific research shows that Beta-Alanine supplementation results in delayed muscle fatigue and rapid recovery time, thereby helping you attain prolonged strength and endurance.
Beta-Alanine is a nitric oxide potentiator. No, beta-Alanine does not generate nitric oxide (like AAKG) – it potentiates (magnifies) nitric oxide function, making its effects stronger and longer lasting. So, when you consume beta-Alanine, wherever your body is making nitric oxide at that point in time, the beta-Alanine will magnify the nitric oxide effect and you will feel extra blood flowing through the capillaries close to your skin surface (it is because of the beneficial nitric oxide magnifying effect of beta-Alanine that we suggest consuming beta-Alanine immediately prior to working out in the form Upgrade.
Within minutes after you drink UPGRADE you may notice that your skin has begun to tingle or itch in certain spots. Do not panic! This is a normal body reaction to beta-Alanine consumption, one of the fatigue inhibiting ingredients in UPGRADE. We have talked with people who didn’t expect such a reaction when they tried Upgrade for the first time. They thought that they were experiencing an allergic reaction. This is simply not the case. You are not having an allergic reaction. Beta-Alanine coverts to carnosine. Carnosine is a dipeptide (beta-alanyl-L-histidine) the histidine acts like histamine causing tingling in the skin. A natural part of consuming a sufficient dose of beta-Alanine is a skin-tingling reaction once the beta-Alanine is absorbed into the bloodstream.
After a few weeks of daily consumption of beta-Alanine, you will become more accustomed to the skin tingling sensation and won’t be bothered by it as much. In spite of the skin tingling, beta-Alanine is certainly a supplement ingredient worth taking if you want to increase endurance and delay muscle fatigue.
Caution: Beta-Alanine may cause a harmless, temporary tingling sensation on the skin for some individuals. After a few weeks of supplementation with Beta-Alanine, this sensation normally lessens or subsides.

Green Tea (EGCG)

  • Provides potent neuroprotective effects on the brain as well as improved learning abilities
  • Protects dopaminergic neurons
  • Green Tea, and especially the component epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), provide potent neuroprotective effects to the brain as well as improved learning abilities.
  • Green Tea inhibits the activity of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE), which breaks down the chemical messenger acetylcholine. Alzheimer’s is characterized by a drop in acetylcholine.
  • Improves memory learning ability.
EGCG has a protective effect on neurons. One study showed the ability of EGCG to protect dopaminergic neurons against herbicides known to be toxic to these cells. Further studies have shown that EGCG is protective to neurons injured due to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease
Green Tea greatly improves levels of antioxidant enzymes and antioxidants in the brain. The brain is very susceptible to oxidative stress-related damage because of its high content of polyunsaturated acids. EGCG has been shown, in lab animals, to improve the activity of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase, as well as support increased levels of the antioxidants tocopherol, ascorbic acid, and glutathione. EGCG is, therefore, a good neuroprotective agent (from oxidative stress) for the aging brain.
EGCG inhibits neuronal loss in two ways. It decreases the production of Beta-amyloid (Aβ), which forms proteins that can develop into plaques in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients (Okello, 2004). It also decreases neuronal loss due to polyphenol (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (MPTP), which is a potent neurotoxin that specifically affects dopamine production and receptors. One of the reasons that green tea is so beneficial in stopping this degeneration in neuronal cells is that EGCG has been shown to be present in the brain, meaning that it is able to enact its antioxidative effects on the free radicals causing damage in the brain. Green Tea inhibits the activity of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE), which breaks down the chemical messenger acetylcholine. Alzheimer’s is characterized by a drop in acetylcholine.

Ginkgo Biloba Extract

  • Improves memory, concentration
  • Improve long-distance vision
  • Aids against depression
  • Protects and promotes memory and mental function
Ginkgo biloba extract acts to enhance oxygen utilization and thus improves memory, concentration, and other mental faculties. The herbal extract has also been shown to significantly improve long-distance vision and may reverse damage to the retina of the eye. Studies have also confirmed its value in the treatment of depression in elderly persons. The ginkgo extract may provide relief for persons with headache, sinusitis, and vertigo. It may also help relieve chronic ringing in the ears known as tinnitus.
In studies, Ginkgo biloba has been reported as demonstrating anti-oxidant abilities with improvements of the platelet and nerve cell functions and blood flow to the nervous system and brain. It has also been reported as reducing blood viscosity.
As more than 300 studies demonstrate, ginkgo facilitates better blood flow throughout the body, most notably the brain, where it both protects and promotes memory and mental function, even for people with Alzheimer’s disease. It also offers a wealth of possibilities in the treatment of many other common ailments.

PEA (beta-phenylethylamine)

PEA is “natural brain fuel” for improving neurotransmitter activity and brain performance.
beta-phenylethylamine (PEA), a naturally occurring neurohormone/neurotransmitter (chemical signal messenger between nerves) that are normally synthesized in the brain from the amino acid phenylalanine. PEA has the unique ability to increase the activity of the major neurotransmitters and improve your life functions.
PEA increases the effects of dopamine (for wellbeing and feeling pleasure), norepinephrine (the brain’s stimulant for wakefulness and higher performance), acetylcholine (for improving memory and mental activity), and serotonin (for better mood emotion and impulse control). PEA is a highly-concentrated neurotransmitter in the limbic system (the brain’s emotional center) that increases motivation, physical drive, feelings, and social activity.
PEA is a powerful weapon for fighting aging. It has a unique ability to help delay aging, extend healthy life span, and restore more youthful mental and physical functions. PEA is a “catecholamine activity enhancer” that according to researchers improves the activity of dopamine/noradrenalin neurons, which have a pivotal role in regulating aging.

The FTC’s truth-in-advertising law can be boiled down to two common-sense propositions: 1) advertising must be truthful and not misleading; and 2) before disseminating an ad, advertisers must have adequate substantiation for all objective product claims. A deceptive ad is one that contains a misrepresentation or omission that is likely to mislead consumers acting reasonably under the circumstances to their detriment. The FTC’s substantiation standard is a flexible one that depends on many factors. When evaluating claims about the efficacy and safety of foods, dietary supplements, and drugs, the FTC has typically applied a substantiation standard of competent and reliable scientific evidence.
After evaluating the truthfulness and accuracy of advertising is to identify all express and implied claims an ad conveys to consumers. Advertisers must make sure that whatever they say expressly in an ad is accurate. Often, however, an ad conveys other claims beyond those expressly stated. Under FTC law, an advertiser is equally responsible for the accuracy of claims suggested or implied by the ad. Advertisers cannot suggest claims that they could not make directly.
When identifying claims, advertisers should not focus just on individual phrases or statements, but rather should consider the ad as a whole, assessing the “net impression” conveyed by all elements of the ad, including the text, product name, and depictions. When an ad lends itself to more than one reasonable interpretation, the advertiser is responsible for substantiating each interpretation. Copy tests, or other evidence of how consumers actually interpret an ad, can be valuable. In many cases, however, the implications of the ad are clear enough to determine the existence of the claim by examining the ad alone, without extrinsic evidence.
The Food and Drug Administration has not evaluated these statements. Always consult a physician if you are unsure about taking a new supplement.
